Privacy Policy

What information Chow uses to run local food listings, reservations and support.

Information you provide

Account registration uses your name, email address and password. Password authentication is handled by Supabase Auth; Chow does not display your password to cooks or other buyers. Buyers also provide a name for a reservation and may write messages, reviews or order reports. When you email support, Chow receives your email address and the information you include in your message.

Cooks provide profile and kitchen details, a pickup address and map location, dish photos and descriptions, and verification evidence. Seller verification documents and payment proof are intended for authorised review, not for the public listing page.

What other people can see

Public listings and cook profiles can show a cook's display name, profile photo, dish details, price, pickup area and location information. A listing may show the pickup address entered by its cook. Buyers and cooks involved in an order can see the details needed to coordinate that pickup and the messages exchanged for it. Do not put private information in public profile or listing text unless you want it shown. If you write a review after pickup, its text, stars, date, and your first name with your last initial appear on the cook's public profile. Star-only ratings are included in the cook's overall rating but do not appear in the written review list.

Why we use information

Chow uses this information to create accounts, review cooks, show listings and maps, process reservations, keep pickup and chat history, send order-related alerts, calculate seller fees, prevent abuse, and investigate reports or support requests. If you allow browser push, a notification subscription identifier and your alert preference are stored for order updates. You can turn off browser alerts in your browser or seller settings where available.

Your browser may store sign-in information, private pickup access and alert preferences so the service works across page visits. Location permission for nearby results is optional and controlled by your browser; cooks separately choose the kitchen location used for listings.

Services involved

Chow uses Supabase for accounts, database, file storage and realtime updates; Vercel to host the website; OneSignal for optional browser push; and Resend for transactional email. The map loads tiles from OpenFreeMap. These services receive the information needed to perform their part of the service. Their own privacy terms may also apply when you use their services through Chow.

Storage, access and requests

Account, reservation, chat, verification and support records remain available while needed to operate Chow and resolve disputes. Accounting records for orders, seller fees and fee payments may be kept for five years where needed for tax and bookkeeping obligations. Chow reviews other records when they are no longer needed and handles deletion requests individually; this does not mean records are automatically deleted on a fixed date. Access to private records is limited by account and admin permissions; no online service can promise absolute security.

To ask about your information, request a correction, or request that information be deleted where possible, use Contact Us. Include enough detail for Chow to identify the account or order, but do not email identity-document images unless Chow requests them through a secure process. Chow will review the request against operational and legal record needs.
